Internship
We are looking for an intern to work with us for a few hours a week, for five weeks, starting in August 2026.
We pay our interns the London Living Wage.
This role will be unglamorous and creatively unfulfilling. However, after completing the internship, you will have our permission to wildly exaggerate about your work at the magazine in any future job applications or interviews. (eg. ‘Oh, I turned down poems by three Nobel Laureates’; ‘That Autumn issue? I basically wrote the whole thing, under a few of my noms de plume.’)
TLR’s editor will happily write letters of reference endorsing these lies and hailing you literary publishing’s New Messiah.
The actual work – which can all be done remotely, via Zoom and email – is likely to involve proof-reading pages, suggesting edits to articles, offering a second opinion on submissions, and generally helping with admin (spreadsheets, etc).
There will also be the opportunity to pitch interviews, reviews and features.
No experience or education of any kind is required, but these skills and qualities are essential:
A love of poetry and keen interest in contemporary literature
A sharp eye for typos, grammatical errors and other infelicities
A basic working knowledge of Google Sheets & Google Drive
Enthusiasm, honesty, and humour
Applications are open from May 1 to May 31, 2026. Interviews will take place over Zoom in June.
To apply, email mailbox@thelittlereview.co.uk between the dates above with INTERNSHIP APPLICATION as the subject-line of your email. Please attach a CV as a PDF. In the body of your email, answer these seven questions/tasks:
1) Why on earth do you want to work for a crummy little magazine like The Little Review?
2) What have you most enjoyed reading in The Little Review?
3) What is something The Little Review currently does badly, or could do better?
4) Suggest a review or feature idea for the Arts section, related to something happening in 2026 (a new film, art exhibition, book, radio programme, internet trend, etc.)
5) Suggest an essay idea for the Re-Reading section.
6) Which living poet would you be most likely to pay £5 to read a new poem by, and why?
7) Write a review of 300-350 words of any book published in 2026.
If you have any questions about this internship, email mailbox@thelittlereview.co.uk with ‘INTERN QUERY’ as the subject-line of your email.
